Sports Medicine, also known as Sport and Exercise Medicine, is a branch of medicine that deals with sport, physical exercise and related diseases.

Sport medicine has now taken an indispensable role in the training of professional athletes who often have a very sophisticated medical staff, composed not only by the doctor of sport, but also dieticians, psychologists, physiotherapists and orthopaedics.
